Local Cases

Accident Types That Affect Sunny Isles Beach

Sunny Isles Beach’s coastal location, tourist traffic, and high-rise density create a unique mix of accident types that our firm handles regularly.

Boat Accidents

Haulover Inlet, one of the most heavily trafficked inlets in South Florida, sees collisions, capsizings, and jet ski incidents that cause serious and sometimes fatal injuries. The Intracoastal Waterway along Sunny Isles adds additional boating accident exposure. Maritime injury claims involve a mix of federal admiralty law and Florida state law, and the rules governing liability, insurance, and damage recovery differ significantly from land-based accidents. Our firm understands these distinctions and has pursued boating injury claims under both frameworks.

Car Accidents

Along Collins Avenue, car accidents are frequent in an area where heavy tourist traffic, construction detours, and high-rise congestion converge on a single north-south corridor. The intersection patterns along Collins Avenue through Sunny Isles create rear-end collisions and T-bone crashes at rates above the county average. Our firm pulls traffic camera footage, obtains crash reports, and works with reconstruction specialists to establish fault.

Slip and Fall Injuries

In Sunny Isles Beach, slip and fall injuries frequently involve condominium common areas, hotel pool decks, beachfront walkways, and restaurant patios. High-rise buildings with marble lobbies, wet pool surrounds, and poorly maintained outdoor surfaces account for many of the premises liability claims from this area. Property owners and condo associations carry insurance for these incidents, and our firm knows how to navigate those claims.

Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrian accidents are a persistent concern along Collins Avenue where heavy vehicle traffic meets high foot traffic from residents and tourists. Limited crosswalk infrastructure in some sections of the barrier island forces pedestrians into dangerous crossings. Drivers who fail to yield or speed through these zones can be held fully responsible.

Your Claim

Navigating an Injury Claim from Sunny Isles Beach

Sunny Isles Beach falls within Miami-Dade County jurisdiction. If your case requires litigation, it will be filed in the Miami-Dade County Courthouse. Vladimir Tsirkin practices in both Miami-Dade and Broward County courts and is familiar with the procedural requirements in each. For boating accidents specifically, jurisdiction can be more complex. Incidents on navigable waters may invoke federal admiralty jurisdiction, which carries different rules for liability and damages than Florida state courts. In some cases, both federal and state claims exist simultaneously, and choosing the right forum is a strategic decision that can affect the outcome. Our firm evaluates jurisdiction on every maritime case.

Sunny Isles Beach also has a significant tourist population. If you were injured while visiting, whether in a car accident, a boating incident, or a fall at a hotel, you do not need to be a Florida resident to file a claim. Florida courts have jurisdiction over accidents that occur within the state, and our firm handles the entire process so out-of-state clients do not need to make repeated trips to South Florida.

FAQs

Questions from Sunny Isles Beach Clients

How far is your office from Sunny Isles Beach?+

Our Hallandale Beach office is approximately 4-5 miles north of Sunny Isles Beach. The drive takes about 10-15 minutes via Collins Avenue or 12-15 minutes via I-95.

Do you handle boating accident cases near Haulover Inlet?+

Yes. Boating collisions, jet ski incidents, and capsizings near Haulover Inlet and on the Intracoastal Waterway are cases our firm handles. These claims often involve federal maritime law alongside Florida state law, and the applicable rules depend on where the accident occurred and what vessels were involved.

I was injured as a tourist visiting Sunny Isles Beach. Can you still take my case?+

Yes. You do not need to be a Florida resident for us to represent you. We handle the entire process, including filing, negotiation, and litigation if necessary, so out-of-state clients typically do not need to return to Florida repeatedly.

Can you come to my condo if I am injured and cannot drive?+

Yes. We provide free home, condo, and hospital visits throughout Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County. Call 800-99-CRASH and we will come to you.

What is the difference between a state court and admiralty claim for a boating accident?+

Federal admiralty law and Florida state law handle boating injuries differently. Admiralty claims may offer different damage calculations and do not use a jury by default, while state claims follow Florida’s comparative negligence rules. In some cases, both avenues are available, and choosing the right one is a strategic decision. Our firm evaluates this on every maritime injury case.
